Batelco claims mobile TV first


Bahrain telecommu-nications company Batelco has launched i-Teq X-Bond, which it claims is the first Microsoft-based PDA with television in the Middle East.

Available exclusively from Batelco outlets, the ultra compact, Windows Mobile 5.0 based player features a built-in TV receiver with which users can watch all terrestrial

TV channels and programmes for free.

The state-of-the-art device also has a built-in FM radio and recorder to record songs from, Windows Media Player, and twin stereo 3D surround speakers.

On the imaging front it includes a 2.1-megapixel camera with macro lens digital zoom.

This camera can also record video content.

Bearing in mind Bahraini nationals, the i-Teq also offers important Arabic applications such as an Arabic keyboard, Pocket PC optimised with an Arabic to English dictionary, Islamic prayer alerts and Qiblah direction.
