Clouds of smoke billow across harbour as flames ravage boat at luxury resort.
Emergency services were called to Dubai International Marine Club on Thursday afternoon after a motorboat moored at the exclusive resort caught fire, Arabian Business has learned.
The blaze was noticed at about 4.20pm by workers at the marina, which is part of the luxury Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Resort, after smoke billowed across the harbour.
Staff raised the alarm and the fire brigade were able to bring the flames under control quickly, said Marina employee Ramadas Narayanan.
“No other boats have been damaged,” he said, adding that it was not clear how the blaze had started.
It is understood no one was injured in the fire, though the boat is thought to be badly damaged.
A worker at nearby Barasti bar said: "We saw black smoke billowing into the air. The ambulances are there now and the smoke is starting to fall."
At neighbouring Dubai Marina Yacht Club, employee Misham Hettiarchie said nearby boats had been removed from the vicinity.
“There is still a lot of smoke, but the flames have died down,” he said, adding that police and the fire brigade were still in attendance.
