Distributor TDME has been dealt its first blow since its inauguration after losing the services of enterprise general manager Ali Fayez. His departure comes just one month after the formation of TDME - the former components and value-added distribution businesses of Tech Data acquired by Aptec Holdings.
Fayez, who reported into Aptec's regional vice chairman Essam Baghdadi, was thought to be regarded as a critical part of the TDME management team given Aptec's vow to ensure continuity during the period when Tech Data transitioned to the new entity.
Fayez said: "I worked for Tech Data for the past four years. I started as the business development manager for Bahrain and then I carried on to take the whole region, and then the enterprise business for the region. I did a lot in Tech Data so I was expecting to take the new company the Tech Data-Azlan way, but to be honest I discovered it was going to be very hard for me and them to carry it on in my way and so I decided to leave the company," he added.
It is understood that Shailendra Sainani, business unit manager for networking products at Aptec, has taken over Fayez's day-to-day duties in the wake of his departure.
It is not yet clear if this is a permanent appointment, although Aptec CEO and chairman Ali Baghdadi admitted there are currently no plans to look outside the company for a replacement.
"Aptec Holdings as a group employs over 500 professionals in all fields and specialisations," explained Baghdadi.
"These are highly gifted and qualified resources. Several members of Aptec's management team are already sitting in TDME ensuring that - along with the best of Tech Data's team members - the objectives of the group are met. We are not looking outside the group at this time for additional resources," he revealed. For all the latest tech news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
