Alcatel has signed a Global Framework Agreement with the Vodafone Group to supply an end-to-end portfolio of product and service solutions to the Vodafone operating companies worldwide.

The partnership will help Vodafone to achieve its strategic goals by providing operating companies with the option to leverage Alcatel's products where there is a strategic fit.

"To receive such prestigious recognition from the Vodafone Group reinforces Alcatel's position as a key player in shaping the future of telecoms networks," commented Marc Rouanne, president of Alcatel's mobile communications unit.

Alcatel has also announced it has now surpassed 100 million DSL lines shipped worldwide.

The French vendor, which continues to have more than one third of the DSL market, has doubled its total shipments since October 2004.

DSL products have grown in demand in the Middle East as governments seek to boost broadband penetration rates.
