Buyers forum unveiled to kickstart Dubai market

Agent launches reverse listing service allowing buyers to detail property needs.

Broker Landmark Properties has launched an online listing forum for buyers in Dubai aimed at making deals easier and quicker in the difficult market. The forum is being billed as a ‘reverse listing service’ by the agent, and helps connect buyers and leasers with vendors and landlords.

Potential buyers and those looking to rent can post their requirements on the forum called Landmark Souq, available on the real estate agent’s website.

”Since more than 70 percent of customers begin their property search online, we developed the concept of the Souq to let buyers skip the middle-man and communicate their property and price requirements directly to the seller or landlord,” said Charles Neil, CFO of Landmark Properties on Monday.

Neil said the turbulent property market in Dubai which has seen house price falls triggered by the fallout from the worldwide credit squeeze had ‘inspired’ the Souq idea.

“It is a new way for clients to....understand what the region’s buyers and sellers really want,” he added.

The Souq went live at the start of the month. According to Landmark, 3.4 million people visit its website every month.

Landmark is a Dubai-based real estate broker and specialises in everything from residential and commercial leasing to property management.
