CA has announced a simplified pricing model for its CA ARCserve Backup solution. The new model significantly eases procurement, implementation, and ownership of CA's recovery management technology by making it available in four complete suites. The model also provides a set of tools, agents, and options to protect critical data and applications in a single enterprise package.
The four suites, each requiring only a single license, are CA ARCserve Backup File Server Suite, CA ARCserve Backup e-Mail Suite, the CA ARCserve Backup Database Suite and CA ARCserve Backup Application Suite.
According to the company, the new model allows customers to freely modify their IT environments without having to purchase or install additional software. For example, a customer can connect an existing server to a SAN or a larger tape library without having to buy licenses for additional CA ARCserve Backup components. Customers can also change applications-such as shifting from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange-and use the same CA ARCserve Backup e-Mail Suite.
"Mid-market customers, in particular, will benefit from CA's integrated offerings, since they're the ones who most acutely require the combination of simplicity and broad functional capability that we're offering," said Bob Davis, senior vice president and general manager of CA's Mid-Market and Storage business unit.
Customers currently using CA ARCserve Backup technology can still use the previous pricing model to add individual agents or options to their existing configurations.
CA has also simplified pricing for CA XOsoft WANSync and WANSyncHA by reducing the number of SKUs to just eight. CA XOsoft products are integrated with CA ARCserve Backup enabling customers to select from a continuum of data protection technologies, including high-performance backup, replication, CDP, automated application failover and DR testing.
