Computer Associates (CA) has upgraded its anti-virus software, adding in dual virus scanning functionality. According to research from Meta Group, anti-virus scans typically miss 1 and 3% of the time. To combat the situation, CA has loaded e-Trust 7.0 with dual scanning engines to reduce the change of single scan overlooking a potential threat.“As the internet continues to develop, so do the threats associated with the [web,] such as worms, Trojans and other destructive codes,” says Abdul Karim Riyaz, director, e-Trust security solutions, CA Middle East. “CA ME believes that future viruses are likely to become smarter and more sophisticated in order to avoid detection by anti-virus software. They will attack multiple servers across a large geographical area and disguise their trail on the internet,” he adds.E-trust Antivirus v7 integrates desktop and perimeter protection facility to provide total coverage for the enterprise, from critical potential points of entry at the perimeter to mobile devices in the field. The package also has a web-based management interface to automate signature distribution and track events across the enterprise. Ease of administration and signature deployment is critical for effective virus protection.“Proper implementation and configuration of an anti-virus [software] is critical to protecting the corporate network, yet many organizations are not doing enough in this area,” comments Riyaz. “To help our customers overcome this gap, Computer Associates Middle East provides unrivalled levels of local support through our eight offices in the region, which means that customers can be confident they are receiving world-class standards of protection,” he adds.
