Agreement covers the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. Existing National Sales Organisations (NSOs) will continue to provide ‘value-added’ solutions.
Canon Middle East has appointed Tech Data as wholesale distribution partner for the region. This marks a sea change in Canon’s distribution strategy, taking it away from its policy of in-country distributors. The announcement covers the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. Canon’s existing National Sales Organisations (NSOs) will continue to provide ‘value-added’ solutions and customer support, the company says.“Tech Data has an extremely efficient, low cost supply chain which can effectively handle large volumes of products, and brings to the table its base of reseller partners in the Middle East,” said Gordon Jones, president of Canon Middle East. “We look forward to this relationship complementing and expanding our routes to market.”Canon claims that it has been strongly outperforming the market in recent years. In 2002, Canon’s printer business saw 51% unit growth and its scanner business grew by 77%. “Canon offers exciting and profitable opportunities for our reseller partners, with products that let them differentiate themselves in their markets,” said Steve Lockie, regional MD of Tech Data.
