Three rival car rental companies have joined forces to support a charity event that raises funds for children’s charities and the blind in Oman.

Holiday Autos Middle East, Hertz and Thrifty all sponsored the Gulf for Good Musandam Challenge, which saw 27 daredevil GCC business people kayak around the Musandam Peninsular, from Khasab to Dibba, over a six-day period last month, involving 35kms of kayaking each day and camping overnight at remote locations.

Participants included Holiday Autos Middle East MD, Naz Musa, who stressed it was important to support a good cause in cooperation with his competitors.

“We have a friendly business rivalry and we all put this on hold in order to benefit children in need in Oman,” he said. Details of the amount raised to date have not been disclosed, but sponsors were required to make a minimum donation of AED 8700 (US $ 2369) and the crazy kayakers paid a registration fee of AED 1850 ($504).
