Bloomberg said General Motors was planning an electric version of the popular vehicle
General Motors (GM) is planning to reintroduce the Hummer brand in 2022, but this time as an electric truck, sources have told Bloomberg.
The report said the American carmaker is planning to introduce a pickup truck fashioned along the same design style of the Hummer, which was popular in Dubai before it was discontinued in 2010.
GM bought the Hummer brand in 1998 and sales peaked in 2006 but declined in the wake of the move towards more environmentally-friendly vehicles.
In 2010, when it was discontinued, the Middle East was the second biggest market for the Hummer, beaten only by the US.
“GM is not in a position to comment on this,” a GM spokesperson told Arabian Business when asked about the Bloomberg report.
