The Middle East consumer electronics channel looks set to receive further endorsement after the world's largest lifestyle electronics association revealed that it is currently assessing the benefits of opening a representative office in Dubai.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), which counts more than 2,100 members making combined sales of US$140 billion among its ranks, is also reportedly looking into the possibility of holding its annual congress in the UAE.

The expansion of the CEA in the Middle East region was one of several topics that came up for discussion during a recent meeting between Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and a delegation of CEA executives.

In addition to exploring ways in which the CEA can strengthen its ties with the region, the US-based group assessed bilateral trade and business opportunities.
