Chamayou returns to distribution channel

Channel veteran Thierry Chamayou, formerly general manager at networking vendor D-Link’s Middle East operation, has made the move back into the distribution world, taking on the role of deputy general manager at Mindware.

Channel veteran Thierry Chamayou, formerly general manager at networking vendor D-Link’s Middle East operation, has made the move back into the distribution world, taking on the role of deputy general manager at Mindware.

“The move had nothing to do with D-Link — it was all about the opportunity that Mindware presents,” said Chamayou. “The company is developing in a perfect way as it builds up its skills as a value-added distributor alongside its volume business.”

“I had been in the distribution business for a long time prior to joining D-Link,” he added. “In this part of the world I had spent time competing against Mindware. The business ethics that Mindware has stand out in this region. It is almost a European way of doing business.”

Before joining D-Link, Chamayou spent time as general manager of Aptec’s Saudi Arabia operation and also brings a wealth of distribution experience gleaned from a spell with CHS in Europe.

“Mindware’s decisions to go into the solutions business and introduce new value-add concepts to distribution in the region were both reasons to join. There are so many things that we now need to do to prepare Mindware for what it will become in the future,” he added.

In his new role, Chamayou will play a pivotal role in Mindware’s plan to sign up a select number of additional vendors in the coming years to flesh out its product portfolio even further. According to Chamayou, Saudi Arabia is one market where the distributor really plans to increase its level of focus moving forwards.
