Company says retail outlets to increase from 3 to 11 as more stations open.
Chiquita Brands International said on Tuesday it is planning to expand its offering of fruit juice bars on the Dubai Metro network when the next phase of stations open on the Red Line.
Chiquita Fruit Juice Bars currently operate in three stations on the rail network, which opened last September, but will increase to 11 as more stations open.
Last year, officials at the Roads and Transport Authority said the rest of the stations on the Red Line would open in February but no confirmation of dates has yet been given.
Currently, the fruit bars are open at Union Square, Dubai International Financial Centre, and Rigga.
When the metro becomes fully operational, Chiquita Fruit Juice Bars will be found at 11 stations around the network, the company said in a statement.
The Dubai locations are the first to be opened under an international master franchise agreement, which establishes the right to grant sub-franchises of Chiquita Fruit Bars within certain countries in the Mideast.
"Chiquita Fruit Juice Bars are part of our strategy to leverage and expand Chiquita's brand around the globe. We're delighted to partner with Fresh Fruits Company to bring to Dubai convenient and nutritious fruit beverages, which have been very popular in Europe," said Fernando Aguirre, chairman and CEO of Chiquita.
The Dubai launch comes on the back of successful products like Just Fruit in a Bottle in Europe and Chiquita to Go in North America.
