Leading auction house Christie’s will showcase 146 watches worth a pre-sale estimate of $4.5 million on October 19 as part of the Dubai Important Watches sale in Jumeirah Towers Hotel.

The auction, which will comprise 40 percent vintage and 60 percent modern pieces, will include 40 rare Patek Philippe Nautilus watches created between 1976 and 2016 and of which 10 will be on sale only in Dubai.

The highlight of the sale is a stainless steel Nautilus watch created for the Sultanate of Oman in 1978. It is priced between $150,000 and $250,000 and features the national emblem of Oman with the “khanjar” dagger upon two crossed swords on its dial. It is one of two commissioned for the royal family of Oman.

The rest of the watches will then be auctioned in Geneva on November 14, Hong Kong on November 28, and New York on December 6. However, the Patek Philippe watches will only be shown in Dubai.

Alongside the 146 watches, Christie’s will showcase highlights of the November Geneva watch auction including vintage and collector watches.

The preview for the auction will start on Saturday October 15 and end on the day of the sale Wednesday October 19.

Christie’s will also continue to be a partner of the Dubai Watch Week taking place November 15 to 19.
