Point-of-sale (PoS) solution provider, MyCOM, has been contracted to create a retail solution for the Cirque du Soleil production, Quidam.
With more than a hundred thousand guests expected during Cirque du Soleil’s first season in the Middle East, which starts on January 4, food and beverage and merchandise schemes have been deployed to improve guest service.
“We have created a bespoke retail environment to cater for the heavy rush periods such as the Quidam intermission, with backup counter staff on standby, as well as a redundancy solution and contingency plan should there be any system failure during the performance,” explained D.G. Olive, project co-ordinator for MyCOM.
The show will be performed in Cirque du Soleil’s 2500 seater air-conditioned Grand Chapiteau, located on the grounds of Ibn Battuta Mall, and a series of tents surround the big top, selling refreshments and Cirque du Soleil memorabilia.
More than 25 terminals, all with cash and credit card capabilities, have been strategically situated throughout the tents and are all linked via a back-end system, which updates inventory in real-time to ensure availability of all consumables and merchandise.
The sale of Cirque du Soleil memorabilia, including DVDs, clothing, and unique items such as juggling balls, have helped to extend the visibility of the brand globally.
“Given that Quidam is a highlight of the Dubai Shopping Festival, as well as Cirque Du Soleil’s first production in the Middle East, [we] anticipate considerable demand for gift items during the performance season,” said Olive.
