InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars.

Situated in the 750,000m² Citystars mixed-use leisure complex in the heart of Egypt's capital, the 311-room proeprty will cater for the increasing number of mid-scale travellers in Cairo.

IHG Middle East and Africa chief operating officer John Bamsey commented: "Holiday Inn is one of the world's most recognisable hotel brands with a global reputation for service, comfort and value and we are very proud to be expanding its presence in the thriving and strategically important destination of Cairo, Egypt.

"According to the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC), Egypt's travel and tourism industry is expected to grow by 5.4% per year between 2008 and 2017. This represents not only continued growth but also increased opportunity for a dependable mid-scale brand such as Holiday Inn," Bamsey continued.

All rooms are equipped with latest technology, including flat LCD TV screens and touch-screen, colour display, direct dial IP telephone systems.

For business travellers and corporate guests, Holiday Inn Cairo Citystars has four state-of-the-art banquet and meeting rooms and a fully equipped 24-hour Business Centre with secretarial support. The hotel offers a choice of four restaurants and bars, while recreational facilities include a health club, a swimming pool, a gymnasium and a sauna.

Within the Middle East and Africa region, the Holiday Inn brand has 24 operational properties and a further 14 in the pipeline. Recent signings include Holiday Inn Doha in Qatar and Holiday Inn Bur Dubai in the UAE.
