Clearswift names sole Middle East distributor

E-mail and web security vendor Clearswift has appointed Westcon Middle East as its sole distributor in what is the first step of a wider plan to develop its presence in the region.

The vendor has awarded Westcon the rights to serve the GCC, Levant, Egypt and Libya, and plans to support the distributor by establishing an office in Dubai Internet City. Previously it addressed the Middle East from the UK.

Westcon, which formerly traded under the Online Distribution brand, will market Clearswift’s data, email and web security solutions.

As the vendor already has active customers in the region, Westcon will also be responsible for managing the existing client base and making resellers aware of its channel initiatives, including the recently-launched Clearswift Catalyst Programme.

“Clearswift is committed to developing a successful two-tier distribution model globally, and the appointment of Westcon ME is further evidence of this strategy,” insisted worldwide channels VP Miles Rippon, who previously headed RSA’s EMEA partner strategy.

“As the synergy between business needs and solution requirements develop, Clearswift is uniquely positioned to deliver real benefits to its customers while at the same time offering resellers greater revenue, profit and service opportunities,” he added.

Venu Menon, sales director at Westcon ME, claims the tie-up reinforces the distributor’s security software offering. “Through our Clearswift product offering we effectively address channel concerns with data loss, e-mail security and web security in a cost-effective manner at the same time as enabling collaboration to drive business growth, reduce costs through vendor consolidation and virtualisation.”
