China National Petroleum Corp's (CNPC) proposed refinery in the southwestern province of Sichuan will receive crude oil via a pipeline link with China's northwestern oil fields.

At a reported cost of US $457 million, the pipeline will run from Lanzhou city in Gansu province to the refinery in Sichuan's Pengzhou city. CNPC plans to drill a record 600 horizontal wells this year to improve productivity at its ageing oilfields and fully exploit some new finds.
