AstraZeneca deploys ERP and HR solutions to help manage local operations
Pharmaceuticals manufacturer AstraZeneca has signed a contract with software consultants Columbus IT to implement Microsoft Dynamics NAV in addition to Columbus's own Columbus HR system.
The project will see Columbus - a finalist at the Microsoft Dynamics EMEA Partner of the Year 2007 - implementing a number of Microsoft Dynamics NAV financial modules initially at AstraZeneca's Dubai office, with other regions to eventually follow in line with the firm's regional expansion plans.
AstraZeneca expects the new system will enable it to generate real time information on critical business activities, record financial transactions, and perform analysis. The firm also cited the inherent scalability of Microsoft Dynamics NAV as a key factor in its selection.
The other implementation is Columbus HR, which will optimise payroll management processes at AstraZeneca, with the new system being flexible enough to manage the variety of compensation and benefit programs which are specific to the pharmaceutical industry.
In addition to the central work of setting up the new consolidated financial and payroll system, Columbus IT will additionally create a custom interface between NAV and AstraZeneca's banking reconciliatory system, which is expected to simply transactions with the firm's bank.
Damanvir Singh, IS/IT Manager at AstraZeneca Gulf said that it was impressed with Columbus IT's strong consultancy track record and keen pre-sale interest.
"Dynamics NAVISION scored over others in terms of flexibility, integration capabilities, clear upgrade paths, customization and feature-rich capabilities," he explained.
Manjeet Singh, managing director of Columbus IT Middle East added: "With Microsoft Dynamics NAV solution in place, AstraZeneca can expect to reap the benefits of information integration, visibility and accessibility. We look forward to taking this partnership to greater heights and enabling AstraZeneca in delivering world-class healthcare services to the benefit of the Gulf region."
