Compactor designed for civil jobs

Dynapac has said that it can assure increased production on projects requiring the movement of large volumes of soil, such as motorways and airports, with the recently introduced CT364.

The new 26-tonne twin-drum tamping compactor offers increased production on cohesive and semi-cohesive soils. It has been designed for movement of large volumes of earth on civil and infrastructure projects.

With both drums incorporating a total of 144 pad feet, each covering an area of 2m² and a height of 180mm, the CT364 is able to quickly achieve the specified densities on any type of terrain, according to the company.

The CT364 features two drums with a working width of 2,660mm to ensure uniform compaction and large compaction capacity. No additional overlaps are required.

Heavy-duty scrapers with hardox wear plates keep the drums clean and prevent material build-up.

The compactor is powered by a 179kW (240hp) Cummins QSC8.3 diesel engine. Power is transmitted to the drums through a hydrostatic drive from dual hydraulic pumps feeding hydraulic motors.

A 1m-high x 3.6m-wide two-way tilting dozer blade is fitted as standard with an optionally available four-way tilting blade.

The operator's cab offers clear all-round visibility above the blade and the working areas in front and behind the machine.

The roller produces low vibration levels in the operator's station, achieved through the rubber suspension of the operator's platform, cab and diesel engine.

The cab offers the operator protection against wind, dust and rain and features integrated ROPS/FOPS. Air conditioning is also optionally available to maintain the cab temperature at a comfortable level even if the ambient temperature is high.

The new cab can be easily lowered to provide a reduced transportation height of 3.65m.

An electronic control system monitors all the machines functions, which can be altered or adjusted through an LCD panel in the cab. The steering console uses two joysticks for both speed/direction and steering/ dozer blade movement.

The CT364 has been designed to facilitate easy access for maintenance and periodic service. The engine dipstick, oil-filter cap, fuel filter, air filter and radiator-level control are all within easy reach.

The large easy-to-open engine hood provides further improved accessibility. The number of lubrication parts has been reduced to a minimum and the intervals between servicing have been extended.

A very low centre of gravity provides the roller with excellent stability. The machine is also fitted with ‘fail safe' brakes, which are automatically applied if the engine stops, or in the event of hydraulic or electric failures.
