Computex holds birthday bash

Computex celebrated its 25th birthday last week, with an estimated 120,000-plus visitors attending the world's second-largest annual computer show, held in Taiwan.

Computex celebrated its 25th birthday last week, with an estimated 120,000-plus visitors attending the world's second-largest annual computer show, held in Taiwan. The event, which trails only Germany's CeBIT in size, attracted nearly 1,300 exhibitors, with companies from 22 countries present, according to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council and the Taipei Computer Association, the exhibition's two organisers. As well as international giants such as Intel, Microsoft and Toshiba, some of Taiwan's leading IT companies were present, including Acer and Asustek Computer. The theme of the event this year was how electronic technologies are applied to build the digital home, with the emergence of car electronics also featured this year.
