Construction work on key community facility is set to start soon after Shaksy Engineering Services secures deal

Oman's Al Mouj Muscat awards community hub contract

Al Mouj Muscat, Oman's lifestyle and leisure destination, has awarded the construction of its community hub to Shaksy Engineering Services.

Work will soon begin on the community hub - the destination’s newest development, designed and created to be a place where people can connect, share and learn, a statement said.

The agreement was signed by Nasser bin Masoud Al Sheibani, CEO of Al Mouj Muscat and Said Bin Salaam Al Shaksi, CEO of Shaksy Engineering Services.

Situated at a prime location on the development, the community hub will incorporate a masjid, kindergarten and sales and experience centre, set to open in 2019.

Sheibani said: “The community hub is very important for us as it is a project driven with one ultimate goal which is serving the community... we are delighted to be starting construction which will be completed next year.”

In addition to the prayer halls for women and men, the Masjid, which will accommodate over 400 people, will also feature a cultural centre.

The experience centre will initially serve as a destination where visitors learn more about Al Mouj Muscat while the community hub will also comprise classrooms for arts and activities parks and library for children.

Sheibani added that future plans will also see pop-up street food outlets and Omani fashion boutiques, as well as a market to sell traditional Omani arts and crafts.

The Wave, Muscat was rebranded to embrace its Arabic translation to become Al Mouj Muscat in 2015.

Al Mouj Muscat was the first real estate development in Oman to open its doors to foreign investors when it broke ground in 2006. Today, the waterfront community is home to thousands of residents.

Spread along a 6km stretch of Muscat's coastline, the project comprises a group of luxury residential properties, commercial units, retail and dining facilities and Oman's only signature designed PGA Standard 18 hole links golf course, designed by Greg Norman.

Al Mouj Muscat is also home to the 400 berth Almouj Marina, Oman's largest private yachting hub and most recently The Walk, a 50 unit retail area which forms the commercial and leisure hub of the community.
