New bridges are to be opened leading to Dubai Mall in a bid to ease traffic congestion in the area.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed that the bridges, leading to and from the Dubai Mall Zabeel multi-level parking building will open on Tuesday, October 29.
One bridge links the parking building with the upper level of Financial Centre Street, while another extends from the parking building to the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road and Jumeirah.
The work has increased that street capacity to 4,500 vehicles per hour at peak times.
A footbridge linking the parking with Dubai Mall will also be opened.
Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, said: “The project undertaken by RTA in collaboration with Emaar Properties covers the construction of bridges extending 1,860 metres with width varying between 4.5 and 10 metres.”
The contractor is currently carrying out final works to bridges linking the upper level of the Financial Centre Street and Dubai Mall’s cinema parking. The opening date will be announced later in coordination with Emaar. For all the latest construction news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
