Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched a web application to help customers easily decide on the installation of photovoltaic panels on their rooftops to generate electricity from solar power.

Introduced under the Shams Dubai initiative, the app, dubbed Shams Dubai Calculator, will provide detailed comparisons and additional information to help consumers use the innovative tools.

This is part of DEWA’s efforts to support plans to reduce the emirate's carbon footprint, the state utility firm said in a statement.

Interested consumers can check the calculator on DEWA’s official website where there is also an interactive map showing green charger locations, and other Shams Dubai projects.
