Dubai-based Congress Solutions International (CSI) has been awarded the contract for its first conference outside of Dubai - on the European island of Tenerife.
CSI was approached by a client that worked with the company last year, who asked if the company could organise their event in Tenerife.
"We are doing what a professional congress organiser (PCO) is supposed to do - managing hotels and destination management companies (DMCs) - only we are managing them in Tenerife instead of managing them in Dubai," said Frédéric Bardin, senior vice president, CSI and Arabian Adventures.
"That was always the idea; very early on we changed the name from Congress Solutions Dubai to Congress Solutions International. We always intended to be international."
Bardin said the success was particularly significant since CSI has only been up and running for just over a year.
"We are only a year into the business and we have already managed to get this kind of recognition from clients," he said.
"If the next [request] is in Brazil then we can do it in Brazil too. We can do Saudi Arabia, Kuwait or Oman - it is immaterial where it is. It depends on the ability to choose the right partners there; the right hotels, the right DMC, the right equipment provider - you name it."
CSI would consider the possibility of opening up new offices in key international cities "if and when" it needs them, Bardin concluded. For all the latest travel news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
