New Delhi, India, is now also home to a statue of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding father of the UAE, according state news agency WAM.

Sculpted by Indian architect and artist, Arzan Khambatta, the statue was unveiled on the eve of the UAE’s 47th National Day at the National Day reception in the Indian capital, hosted by UAE Ambassador to India, Dr. Ahmed Albanna.

Khambatta’s works are found in a number of public buildings and around outdoor landmarks in India, depicting key themes of peace, tolerance and acceptance.

The statue also commemorates the ‘Year of Zayed’, as the UAE marks the centenary of the birth of its Founding Father.
