The child was born on May 23, the same day as Modi's victory in India's general election
A Dubai-based family has named their son after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his victory in the country’s general elections, according to media reports.
According to a story in the Khaleej Times, the baby’s father, 29-year-old Uttar Pradesh-native Mustaq Ahmed, decided to name his child after Modi because he was born on May 23, the same day as the Prime Minister’s electoral victory.
“I wish (Prime Minister) Modi will come down to our village in Uttar Pradesh to see my little Modi and bless him,” the newspaper quoted the man as saying. “It will be a great honour for my son and our family.”
The baby was born in India. Ahmed, who works at an interior décor firm in Hatta, has yet to meet him.
“We are impressed by what our Prime Minister has done for the country in the last five years,” he added. “I wish my son will also do good work and earn a solid reputation like our Prime Minister."
