Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on Sunday, August 11, according to the International Astronomical Centre (IAC) in Abu Dhabi.

Employees in the public and private sector in the UAE could be in line for a five-day weekend in August.

Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on Sunday, August 11, according to the International Astronomical Centre (IAC) in Abu Dhabi.

Eng Mohammed Shawkat, Director of the Centre, said: “Most Arab and Islamic centres will be able to easily and clearly see the new moon of Zul Hijjah by naked eyes and telescopes.”

And with Arafat Day set to fall on Saturday, August 10, this could see the weekend extended from Friday, August 9 to Wednesday, August 14.

The new moon of the lunar month of Zul Hijjah is expected to be on Thursday, August 1, with the first day of the month of Zul Hijjah predicted to fall on the following day.
