"Zayed's sons have an immortal imprint in the UAE, and hence their love is in the hearts of all Emiratis. Zayed's sons are founding partners who will never be forgotten. May Allah rest the soul of Sheikh Sultan in peace and grant us and UAE people patience and solace,” said Sheikh Mohammed, in a message on Twitter.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said: “Today I lost my brother and one of the UAE’s loyal statesmen and one of its national symbols.

"He worked with the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed, to lay down the foundations of the Union's institutions and serve his people. May Allah rest the soul of Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in peace, and grant us patience and solace to bear this great loss.”
