Muna Al Gurg, director of retail at Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, has joined the 30% Club board to amplify the case for gender diversity
Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, one of the UAE’s largest conglomerates, has announced that it will extend its maternity leave for all female employees.
Announced on International Women’s Day in a LinkedIn post by Muna Al Gurg, director of retail at Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, she said company has agreed to extend its maternity to three months of fully paid leave. Under UAE law, companies are obliged to give 45 days maternity leave at full pay to female employees who have completed one year of continuous service.
Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, a conglomerate with 27 companies, will double that to 90 days, according to Muna Al Gurg, in her LinkedIn post.
“With the support of fellow shareholders, I have worked on changing our maternity policy at Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group to three months of fully paid leave. Personally, I believe it's important to stand by our words and implement gender equality not just through discussions at conferences but from within our organisations,” said Al Gurg.
She added, “I have also joined the 30% Club board to amplify the case for gender diversity which evidences that diverse teams make better decisions and have 50% higher profitability.
“I pledge to mentor, promote women to boards within the UAE, help them network and make ESAG more inclusive as an organisation. I plan to get the best and brightest minds at the boardroom table.”
