A Dubai man has asked for permission to move between the houses of his two wives during the 24-hour National Sterilisation Programme, according to local media reports.

According to media reports, the question came during a radio interview with Brigadier Said Muhair Al Mazrouim the director of Dubai Police’s Traffic and Patrols Department.

“I’m married to two women. Should I get a permit to move between their houses?” the man asked.

Gulf Today reported that Brigadier Al Mazroui “laughed at the request” and “said that not issuing a permit would be an excuse not to see his other wife if he had no desire of being with her”.

Al Mazroui reiterated to residents that the permits are only being issued to residents who need to leave their homes for essentials during the sterilisation programme, which is designed to combat the further spread of the coronavirus.

On April 4, the National Sterilisation Programme was extended in Dubai for a two-week period ending on April 18.

As of the morning of April 8, there have been 2,359 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UAE, including 12 deaths and 186 recoveries.
