Covid-19: UAE suspends prayers in all places of worship

The UAE has suspended the suspension of prayers in all places of worship across the country “until further notice” as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it was announced on Friday.

According to the UAE’s state-run WAM news agency, the decision was taken by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments in coordination with the National Crisis Emergency and Disasters Management Authority, alongside federal and local health and religious authorities.

On Thursday, the UAE reported 331 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s total to 2,990.

Additionally, two more fatalities were confirmed, bringing the total death toll in the UAE to 14.

An additional 29 people recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 268.

Globally, there have been more than 1.6 million confirmed cases of coronavirus as of the morning of April 10, including more than 95,000 deaths and 356,000 recoveries.
