No injuries in latest Sharjah tower fire

People stand on a bridge and watch a fire that erupts in a 51-Storey Residential Tower in Sharjah on May 5, 2020.

Sharjah Civil Defence confirmed there were no fatalities or injuries in the latest fire to break out in a residential tower in the emirate.

The fire, which broke out in a building in Al Taawun area of Sharjah at around 5pm on Thursday evening, was quickly extinguished, authorities said.

The emirate’s forensic team attended the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

A larger fire broke out in a residential tower in Al Nahda, Sharjah on May 5 this year, which has since been attributed to a discarded cigarette.
