Covid-19: Abu Dhabi residents free to move within emirate or leave

Abu Dhabi residents are free to move within the emirate and leave without a permit, although a ban on entry remains in place, according to Abu Dhabi authorities.

In a tweet, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said that the entry ban remains in place with the exception of a number of categories of people.

The announcement comes as UAE authorities announce the end of the National Sterilisation Programme country-wide.

During the campaign, movement was restricted between 11pm and 6am in Dubai, and 10pm and 6am in other parts of the country.

Speaking to media on Wednesday, National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) chairman said that while the campaign may be over, “we will continue to sterilise all public facilities”

Additionally, Al Dhaheri added that – aside from cases of families – a limit of three people per vehicle remains in place across the country. If more than one person is in the car, everyone in the vehicle is required to wear a mask.

The official also advised residents to “commit to social distancing when stepping out and wear masks and gloves.”
