Dubai International Airport (DXB) played a key role over Valentine’s Day weekend as Dmitry, a Russian national, proposed to his girlfriend Anastasiia atop the glass-panelled roof of Concourse B.
Dmitry proposed to Anastasiia at a height of 39.5 meters with views of the Dubai skyline and a front-row seat to the runway action, DXB said in a statement on Wednesday.
Dmitry and Anastasiia had met on New Year’s Eve in Dubai. Anastasiia was visiting as a tourist but missed her flight home to Russia, choosing instead to stay with Dmitry, who got down on one knee with the city skyline and runway in the backdrop just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The airport then arranged a one-day stay at a suite at the DXB Hotel for the couple to celebrate their engagement.
“At DXB, we are committed to providing our guests with memorable experiences and this being the first time anyone has ever proposed on an airport’s rooftop, we wanted to showcase it through our award-winning social media channels. We’re thrilled to have been a part of their story (and that Anastasiia said yes!),” Michelle Lee, Vice President of Brand and Communications at Dubai Airports said.
