The Ministry of Labour (MOL) has issued a circular to all private sector employers in Oman, instructing them to pay their employees’ wages no later than April 18, 2023, to mark the Eid ul-Fitr celebrations.
This move is in accordance with the provisions of the Labour Law put into effect by the Royal Decree No. (35/2003).
Eid 2023 in Oman
Eid ul-Fitr is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time for families and friends to come together, exchange gifts, and share a hearty meal.
This year, Eid ul-Fitr would fall on Saturday, April 22, “in all likelihood,” according to Abdulwahab al Busaidy, the head of the observatory at Oman Astronomical Society.
To ensure that private sector employees in Oman can fully participate in these celebrations, the MOL has urged all establishments to disburse the salaries of their employees for the month of April before April 18, 2023.
The circular issued by the MOL applies to all private sector establishments subject to the provisions of the Labour Law. These establishments include companies, factories, and businesses operating in various sectors of the economy.
