In a viral video circulating on social media, Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah was seen from a plane lighting up with a Ramadan greeting alongside a crescent moon.
The video showed a traveller on a flight soaring above the island gasping when all the lights on the Palm turned off with the crescent lit up and the central road beaming with a ‘Happy Ramadan’ greeting.
The video has garnered over 1.5 million views on TikTok with over 10.9K likes and thousands of shares and comments.
Upon further research, the video seems to have been a CGI edit by a company called VertexCGI. Their social media pages seem to contain various CGI videos of Dubai including a massive energy drink on a truck, a parking garage emerging from the road in the middle of the desert, moving buildings and more.
According to their website, Vertex CGI is a “creative studio specialised on visual communication, social media and commercial video projects. We work with brands and agencies using systematic approach and effective creative solutions.”
The video was shared in time with the commencement of Ramadan which began on Thursday, March 23.
Ramadan is a significant month in the Islamic calendar, observed by millions of Muslims around the world with fasting, prayer, and charitable acts.
The fast is broken each evening with a meal called iftar, which typically includes dates and other traditional foods.
