In the UAE, 61 percent of the population who have attempted to lose weight over the past year, have failed to reach their goals “or did so only short term,” a new study by Allurion revealed.

The two most frequented weight loss methods used were physical exercise and a healthy diet, however the success rate is relatively low.

The report added that many under this category need holistic solutions which combine science, technology and follow-up from a dedicated team of experts to achieve long-lasting results.

The study also showed that about 30 percent of the UAE population do not have an optimal relationship with food, with 26 percent citing fear of gaining weight due to certain ingredients, 24 percent citing the tendency to overeat and 23 percent citing eating too fast as main reasons.

The survey also revealed that 35 percent of UAE nationals are unsatisfied with their body weight, fitness and image.

Another finding from the study also showed that 73 percent of the UAE popular would want to try and lose weight as a New Year’s resolution.

These insights come as Allurion recently announced that 100,000 patients had been treated with the Allurion Program.
