Foggy conditions in the morning and wind gusts of up to 60 kilometres per hour and rough seas are expected between Tuesday, 30 December, and Saturday, 3 January, as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecast unsettled weather for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This will lead to dusty conditions at times and a drop in temperatures early in the period. The seas, particularly in the Arabian Gulf, will be rough. The Oman Sea will be rough at times, becoming moderate towards the weekend.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies can be expected during the New Year week. However, New Year’s Eve over the main cities is expected to be dry. There is a chance of rainfall over some northern and eastern areas, but only during the early part of the week.

Temperatures are expected to decrease through midweek before rising slightly towards the weekend.

NCM said the morning humidity may lead to fog or mist over some coastal and inland areas later in the period. Winds will range from light to fresh, strengthening at times and causing blowing dust and sand, with gusts reaching up to 60kmph.
