The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast a few intermittent spells of rain over the Christmas to New Year’s Eve period, but nothing that can put any of your outdoor plans at risk.

The NCM predicted ‘generally pleasant and moderate weather’ across the country from 25th to 29th December.

The passage of a weak extension of a low-pressure system will make nights cooler. The weather conditions will be accompanied by the movement of medium and low-level clouds, with a chance of “light to moderate” rainfall at intermittent intervals, but this will mostly be concentrated over the islands and northern regions.

The Met office said the rains may occasionally be heavy over the far north of the country.

The centre also warned that sea conditions are expected to be slight to moderate, but could become rough on Sunday with the onset of northwesterly winds. The wind direction, in general, will be southwesterly to northwesterly, and of light-to-moderate speed.

The NCM said it was monitoring weather developments around the clock and will keep the public informed if there are any changes.
