Data surge in ME markets

Growth of digital information in emerging economies will outpace that of mature markets, according to EMC.

Growth of digital information in emerging economies will outpace that of mature markets, according to EMC.

The storage giant said that emerging economies such as the Gulf, Levant and North Africa currently account for a tenth of the digital universe, but are growing at a rate of 30 to 40% faster than the traditional mature markets, such as Europe and the US.

Keen to capitalise on this demand, EMC is urging regional customers and partners to prepare for and manage this growth in a proactive and cost-effective manner.

Mohammed Amin, area manager for EMC Middle East and North Africa, claimed that organisations in the Middle East are already feeling the strain of this increase in data. "With 85% of the projected information growth expected to be managed by businesses from a security, privacy, reliability and compliance perspective, there will be a fundamental shift in the way that companies address their information," he said.
