The date has been set for the fifth edition of the DEPA Middle East hotel awards. The gala event, which rewards extraordinary development and achievements in the region’s hotel industry, will take place at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai on May 3.

The Awards are designed to recognise and reward outstanding service, performance and creativity by hotels and industry personnel in a variety of carefully selected categories. The free to enter awards are open to all four- and five-star hotels in the Middle East. A total of 14 award categories cover a wide range of hotel areas.

A panel of international judges evaluate each nomination. Stephen Head, managing partner, Conseil International Ltd, will chair the judging panel. Julia Felton, executive director, HotelBenchmark, Deloitte & Touche; Russell Kett, managing director, HVS International and Peter Schatzmann, vice president, Executive Search International, will join him.

“Being a hotelier is a demanding responsibility. Every hour of every day we deliver our products and services under the unremitting gaze of our customers.

“The DEPA Middle East Hotel Awards play an important part in recognising the role of the hotel sector and its significant contribution to the hospitality industry and in this respect encourages all countries within the region to achieve new levels of excellence,” said Head.
