Dubai Internet City announces the best teams of the second Decode Dubai hackathon.
Five winning teams of the second Decode Dubai hackathon, an initiative by Dubai Internet City, will have the chance to represent Dubai at the Smart City Expo 2015 in Barcelona.
The ideas of five teams of developers were chosen among over 120 developers, coders and technopreneurs who took part in a 48-hour hackathon held at Dubai Internet City.
The winners, who won prizes sponsored by Huawei, are Daleelio for shopping and retail, Be There for culture and tourism, Connected Cars for urban mobility, Energy City for energy and emission, and Karmaconomy for collaborative city.
All the participants were invited to develop and present apps around five Smart themes – shopping and retail, culture and tourism, urban mobility, energy and emission, and collaborative city.
The winning teams will be mentored with the in5 innovation centre before participating in the Smart City App Hack (SMAH) finals in Dubai in September, with the ultimate winner going on to represent Dubai at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona in November.
Commenting on the second Decode Dubai, Majed Al Suwaidi, managing director of Dubai Internet City and Dubai Outsource Zone, said: “I was impressed by the skill and level of creativity that we saw across all of the teams.
“The winning teams, who will be mentored within the in5 innovation centre and get a chance to take part in the Smart City App Hack finals in Dubai, are testament to the creativity that prevails in Dubai.
“We urge the winners, and all of the teams who took part, to continue exploring their ideas and innovative technology solutions, as they have an active role to play in the further development of Dubai’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
The Smart City App Hack competition is open to not only 1st and 2nd place winners of Decodedubai but is open for both the participants that started working on their apps at DecodeDubai as also for new teams that have an app in progress and want to join in.What does this mean?
It means that if you have an app idea or prototype that you are working on and you need a final push to help you finish building it and put it on the market, Dubai Smart City App Hack competition is your platform.
