EXCLUSIVE: Dubai carrier forced to reschedule after hitch arises with superjumbo No 2.
Delivery of Emirates' second A380 has been delayed by several weeks, the Dubai-based airline confirmed on Thursday.
“The delivery of our second A380 aircraft will be pushed back by a few weeks. Discussions are underway with Airbus regarding the delivery date,” a spokesperson for the airline told Arabian Business.
The airline, by far the A380’s largest customer with 58 aircraft on order, did not give a reason for the delay but it is understood to be because of supply issues with interior outfitting.
Emirates’ first A380 was delivered last month following a two-year delay from plane manufacturer Airbus.
In May, Airbus announced it was unable to deliver as quickly as it hoped as it attempted to recover from delays caused by problems in installing the wiring on the world’s largest passenger plane.
The A380 includes 489 seats (14 first class suites, 76 business and 399 economy). Shower suites are included for passengers in first class while individual mini-bars are also fitted.
Emirates Aircraft have deliberately & consistently deteriorated their passenger comfort standards to the Altar of $Profit .... it is therefore NO wonder that EK has the largest order for Airbus A380's, the custom design of which seats the twit who bought an Economy ticket much like a chicken in a broiler farm - 10 abreast, with severly restricted legroom, no footrest on a journey on average 17 hours and not even a magazine to read!! Well Done EK..Long may you rest in Peace....I have already destroyed my Skywards Silver!
