Delta parties with partners

Retail distributor Delta Business Products products pulled together the leading lights from the UAE IT retail channel and senior executives from its vendor partners for its inaugural ‘Retail in Focus’ evening event.

Retail distributor Delta Business Products products pulled together the leading lights from the UAE IT retail channel and senior executives from its vendor partners for its inaugural ‘Retail in Focus’ event. Presentations, networking opportunities, retailer awards, raffles and dinner proved a winning combination for attendees.

During the evening event, senior executives from Delta outlined the breadth of its retail product portfolio and the range of value-added services the company offers to support retailers across the region such as merchandising and express delivery. Representing Imation, Maxtor, Canon, Pataco, Trust, Manhattan, Intellinet, Bandridge, Samsung Pleomax and Mpio, Delta showcased each vendor’s product range to the retail attendees.

“This is the first time we have had an event like this,” said Govinda K. Siddartha, managing director at Delta. “It is important to get all the retailers in one place, take them out of their working environment and show them the complete portfolio we offer.”

“We can see the benefits of the retailers themselves meeting to exchange ideas as well,” he added. “If we all act responsibly and communicate effectively, we can all benefit from the growing retail market in this region.”

Siddartha hopes to make ‘Retail in Focus’ an annual event and is already mulling over the possibility of running similar in-country events in major markets such as Saudi Arabia. Delta is also exploring the possibility of running events focused on a single vendor’s offering and is already in discussions with hard drive vendor Maxtor regarding this possibility.

Rajeev Mukul, general manager at Maxtor Middle East and Africa, said: “This is a significant event because a number of retailers that we want to reach out to are purchasing from distributors such as Delta and this is a great opportunity to be exposed to them. We have a lot of plans and programmes to implement with Delta and I am sure that they have the skills and expertise to make these plans a success.”

Delta also hopes to further strengthen its product portfolio in the coming months. Vendors such as Epson, which is not currently selling through Delta, also attended the ‘Retail in Focus’ event to get a better understanding of the distributor’s reach and expertise in the Middle East retail channel-to-market.
