The Qatar Football Association says Doha is set to be the venue of choice for November match.
Doha is set to be the venue of choice for a friendly between England and Brazil in November, said the Qatar Football Association, in comments published on Tuesday.
England is under contract to play Brazil in an away friendly as part of the bargain struck when the South American team agreed to play the opening match at the new Wembley Stadium in June 2007, according to the Gulf Times.
Saud Al Mohannadi, general secretary for the Qatar Football Association, told the newspaper that the Al Jazeera Sports Channel is likely to sponsor the match.
“The Qatar Football Association is not in the picture as of now. The Al Jazeera Sports Channel is in talks with the Brazilian and English authorities working out the sponsorship details,” he said.
“If everything works out fine then of course the Qatar Football Association will step in and host the match in Doha.”
The match is likely to be on November 14.
