Qatari developer awards design and build contract for Musheireb project to Dubai unit.
Qatari developer Dohaland announced on Sunday it has awarded a QR182m contract for two district cooling plants in its Musheireb project to a unit of Drake & Scull.
Under the contract Drake & Scull Water and Power L.L.C (DSWP) will design and build the two cooling plants, including chiller plants and cooling towers, Dohaland said in a statement.
The total capacity of the two proposed plants is 29,250 TR (Tonnage of Refrigeration), the statement said.
“This is another important milestone in the construction of the Musheireb project which is progressing on schedule,” Mohammad Masoud Al Marri, director-projects, Dohaland.
“The vast experience of our partners, substantiated by the quality and delivery of their previous work, was a major consideration in their selection to undertake the project,” he added.
The contract also covers the design and construction of a chilled water reticulation network including valves and valve chamber details, the design and construction of complete Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) building services for the plants, the testing and commissioning of the plants as well as their operation and maintenance for a minimum of five years.
The first phase of work on Musheireb is due for completion in 2012, with the overall project expected to be ready by 2016.
