Dowie sacked as Coventry manager

Iain Dowie has been sacked as manager of second-tier English side Coventry City.

Iain Dowie has been sacked as manager of second-tier English side Coventry City, the Midlands club announced on its website on Monday.

Coventry are 19th in the Championship table, just four points above the relegation zone, follwong Saturday's 1-0 loss to Preston - their fifth defeat in six league games.

Former Northern Ireland international striker Dowie's assistant Tim Flowers and Bob Dowie, another member of the backroom staff, have also left the Sky Blues with Frankie Bunn and John Harbin in charge for Tuesday's home league game against Cardiff.

"Iain Dowie, Tim Flowers and Bob Dowie have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect," said a statement on Coventry's website.
