DSO promotes its high-tech UAE business location

The team from Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) Free Zone will attend this year's second GULFCOMMS exhibition with the aim of drawing further attention to the first-rate business and community facilities the under-development location will offer.

The team from Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) Free Zone will attend this year's second GULFCOMMS exhibition with the aim of drawing further attention to the first-rate business and community facilities the under-development location will offer.

DSO came into being in late 2002, when His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai issued a decree, focusing the development of the economy away from being strictly oil-based and moving to being a knowledge-based economy.

Many companies have already signed up for offices in the high-tech location, including LSI Logic Corp-oration, which is to establish a semiconductor design and engineering development centre within the forthcoming DSO microelectronics technology park.

"It is our first multi- billion dollar semiconductor design company," said James Adams, DSO's marketing communications manager, when the firm's contract was first agreed.

DSO is a 7.2 sq km master-planned community, strategically located on Dubai's Emirates Road and within easy access of Dubai Inter-national Airport, Jebel Ali Port and Dubai's central business district.
