UAE telecoms firm Du has raised the price of its beIN sports package from AED77 (about $21) a month to AED110 (about $30).
And subscribers in the emirates will not be able to sign up for a AED90 package that the Qatari broadcaster is advertising on its website.
Sports subscribers received an email on Thursday informing them of the 40 percent fee increase, reported The National.
It follows a similar price rise by Etisalat. But firms are offering just the "complete" package, including extra channels.
“The old beIN packages will be no longer be available from August and our existing du TV subscribers with the beIN package will be notified and upgraded into the new beIN Full package with additional channels," du told subscribers in the email. It said the new pricing structure was "devised and guided by beIN".For all the latest business news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
